If you are tired of the big ship experience and want to try something more adventurous, then a sailing adventure with Star Clippers or Windstar is for you. As you skim along the calm blue waters with the wind blowing in your hair, you’ll feel like you don’t have a care in the world.
Itineraries
Sailing ships are smaller and can go where other ships don’t go. There are no sea days so you are in a different port every day. The best part is that you are in ports where the big ships don’t stop so you won’t run into throngs of people while you explore your dream destinations.
Water Sports
These ships excel in water sports and several have activity platforms that act as a base for fun when you anchor in port. You can paddle board, kayak, go snorkeling or just lay on a raft that is tied off to the ship.
Seamanship
Part of the fun of a sailing ship is the feeling you get when the sails are up. It’s totally different from a cruise ship. It’s quiet with the wind whipping the sails. On WindStar and Star Clippers, you can actually visit the bridge and watch how they control the ship. You don’t get that on a cruise ship. On the Star Clippers, you also get a chance to help raise the sails or climb the rigging to the crow’s nest. Are you up to the task?
The Passengers.jpg)
You’ll meet people from all over the world on a sailing ship, but not a lot of them. The largest of these ships holds less than 400 passengers so you get to know people up close and personal. You’ll make friends quickly in this relaxed atmosphere and shared experiences will support budding friendships.
The Food
Food on these ships is fresh daily. Seafood buffets, barbecue’s on the beach, or surf and turf are available during your voyage. The staff goes out of their way to make sure you enjoy the food and hopefully, don’t gain too much weight!
